Snickerdoodles, or Snickering Doodles as Princess calls them are one of our family’s favorite cookies. This is my favorite cookie to make with the kids because the ingredients are simple and they can be actively involved in the whole process. Princess and Monkey both love to roll the dough and cover them in the ‘sprinkles’.
I hope your family enjoys these as much as we do.
Ingredients
* 1 C unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
* 2 C sugar
* 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
* 2 large eggs
* 1 1/4 tsp vanilla
* 3 C flour
sprinkles
* 4 Tbsp sugar
* 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
How To:
In a medium sized bowl, beat the butter for about 30 seconds on medium speed. Add the sugar, baking soda and cream of tartar, beating until well mixed. Slowly beat in the egg and vanilla until well incorporated. Beat in the flour 1/2 C at a time.
When all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour in the fridge.
Pre-heat the oven to 375.
In a bowl, combine the *sprinkles* cinnamon and sugar. Take enough dough to shape into 1″ balls.
This is my kids’ favorite part, rolling the dough into balls and then covering them with *sprinkles*.
Roll the dough balls around in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Place on a light, ungreased baking sheet. Bake about 10 minutes.
The cookies will not appear done. Let cool for a minute on the cookie sheet and then move to a wire rack. This will yield a soft, delightfully chewy cookie. For a crisper cookie, cook about 12 minutes. If the cookies become golden, they will be very crisp.
I give two warnings.
1. They are highly addictive and may cause neighbors and friends to spontaneously appear on your doorstep.
2. Beware of sneaky monkeys.

Any cookie (or anything) with cinnamon in it – I LOVE – YUM! I need to make these – Alexis luvs cookies – me too!
Have a good Monday, Rachel – see you soon – Kellan
I totally KNEW that those were the cookies that the monkey was stealing in your last post.
Off to check my pantry to see if I have the right ingredients.
My MIL makes these for us all the time. They are SO yummy!! Mmmm…
I man when I saw Monkey stealing those in Weekly Winners, I was thinking those looked scrumptious!!!
On another note, I love saying cream of tartar. Weird, I know.
KEEP BELIEVING
I sure was hoping there would be a recipe for this one! Just need some cream of tartar and these bad boys are mine.
Mmmm – will be checking out the cream of tartar status asap…
Some of my favorites! I’ve never actually baked them before, maybe I’ll give it a try!
Mmmmmm good!
If I lived closer I would be a sneaky monkey…
These would not last a tenth of a second around here.
Those look delish! My kids would love them
That looks YUMMY. What a good mom making them with Princess.
That one just went into my recipe file…complete with the warning about sneaky monkeys!
I am SOOO making those tomorrow with the peapod squad. We have a playdate tomorrow morning so I’ll pick up the ingredients on the way home. Yummmmmmy!
I have been busier than crap on a cracker, but smack dab in the middle of my day I thought, “It’s Monday! I MUST see what Rachel is up to!” Of course, as always, everything appears delicious!
Oh, this recipe is so on. Seriously, I don’t really do the whole kitchen thing, but I’m willing to give it a try for these. If I blow something up, at least I’ll have something to blog about.
Awww girl, you’re killing me with these! I want one now:P
I may personally hold you responsible for the weight I gain this winter.
Girl, you’ve got some of the best recipes and photos of them on the web.
Ooo Yum!!! Those look so good!
I see these cookies in books and think, I could touch these cookies with my midas cooking touch and make them.
But then I see there is no chocolate in the cookie whatsoever and that seems so very wrong.
Those are my dad’s favorite cookies and both times I’ve tried to make them (using different recipes each time), they’ve come out as CRUNCHY lumps (stayed mostly balled up). Yours look nice and flat and chewy and I’m TOTALLY gonna try that recipe! YUM YUM YUM!!
I am still smiling at Snickering Doodles! That rocks. Snicker Doodles is SO yesterday.
Those look amazing! My husband looooves Snickerdoodle cookies, so I’m sure I will be using this recipe soon! Thanks for sharing
I love cookies ..any type works out for my tongue and belly that is growing at huge pace..
