Come on Ride the Train

Big Boy fishing

“I big boy Mom”
That’s what my 2 year old Little Monkey told me when we were on the boat.
“I a big boy”, he told me again, his chest puffed up with pride over his real Batman fishing pole that he was gripping tightly in his chubby little fists, the line dangling into the water and visions of the fish he might catch with Daddy practically shining through those deep green-brown eyes.

So, I looked at him and said: “Are you a big boy who’s ready to start potty training? Going potty using the toilet like Daddy and Mommy and Sister?”

His face got very serious, the wheels turning in his head, I swear that I could see the thoughts forming behind those dark eyes, swirling around, being given such serious consideration.
He looked at me very solemnly and nodded, Yes.

Then, he looked at Nate and proclaimed with the biggest grin ever: “Dad, I’m going on the Potty Train!!!”

So, starting Monday we are going to jump on the potty train. (that’s the plan at least)

Are you a mom of a boy? I beseech you, share your potty train secrets, tips, tricks, bribery attempts, whatever. I am in need and I am open to all suggestions!
Princess just decided at 2 1/2 that she wanted to be potty trained and she was. She put on panties that day and never looked back. I know, you can hate me later

Please, share your thoughts, stories and ideas because I am completely clueless.

Voices That Touched My Soul

There were many experiences at BlissDom that made me laugh, some until I cried, some that inspired me and some that just touched my heart.
Then there was the special preview that we got of Yanni Voices and that, that touched my soul.
The music spoke to the very core of my being, it was powerful and passionate and beautiful.
I won’t lie, I remember hearing Yanni and thinking ‘elevator music’. I have had my mind changed.
The lyrics (even the ones I didn’t understand) the power and emotion in those voices, the passion, gave me chills and quite honestly, I felt the emotion and music to the very depths of my core.
Meeting two of the young singers, Nathan and Ender, that have teamed up with Yanni and Disney to put on this spectacular, was amazing. They were sweet, humble, amazingly talented and Nathan sewed it up by saying that “A Mother Carried Her Son to His Dreams” the collective aww and sigh heard in the room was probably even felt on twitter, just check out #voices on twitter. Everyone in the room fell just a bit in love with both of those young men especially when they treated to attendees to a special Happy Birthday Serenade in multiple languages.

We got to preview the PBS special which airs March 2nd (check your local listings)

I even have a sneak peek to share with you!

Music has the power to transport us to a different place in time, bring out powerful emotions and unite us with it’s beauty and it’s passion.
I urge you to check out the sneak peek and watch it with your family when it airs live. It is an experience you will not soon forget.

Just Like Daddy

” I’ve Been Watching You Dad…. I Wanna Do Everything You Do”

One of my favorite songs is “Watching You” by Rodney Atkins, it’s a fun, sweet song and it rings so so true. Our children see everything we do and they want to do everything we do. Our children, especially when they’re young are wonderful little mimics and if we watch them closely, we’ll see ourselves in their every action.
Their expressions, mirrors of our owns, their gestures, clumsy reproductions of our own, their words… sometimes whisper to our best attributes, but all too often, shout our worst. Our children are our best mirror into ourselves.

This video and song are precious and watching my kids driving the boat with Daddy last week, this song kept running through my mind.
