Share A Little Comfort and Get a Little Comfort with Kraft

Bowl of Macaroni and Cheese

A hot ooey, gooey, melty bowl of delicious creamy mac and cheese.

Heavenly and an ultimate part of American Childhood, right?  Think back to your childhood, whether it was the super classic blue box, or the newer shells, spirals etc… macaroni and cheese is as much a part of our culture, childhood, memories as hot dogs, baseball and apple pie.

However, for many families, that is not so.  That blue box, that hot melted bowl of ooey, creamy deliciousness is a luxury they rarely get to indulge in.

Kraft’s Share A Little Comfort Campaign is striving to change that.

They are working with  Feeding America.org to donate up to one million boxes (anyone else picture Dr. Evil pinky style there?, no? carry on then) of Kraft’s Blue Box Macaroni and Cheese!! That is a TON of Macaroni and Cheese!!  In addition to the 1 million boxes of macaroni and cheese, Kraft is donating $100,000 in cash to Feeding America, too!

YAY Kraft!!!

There are a few ways you can help:

  1. Go to the Share A Little Comfort website and click on the donate button and then print some coupons for yourself!
  2. For every Tweet that includes the #bluebox hashtag they’ll add a box to their donation, up to ONE MILLION!
  3. Enter my contest!!

  1. Awesomeness! LOVE IT!

Yay Kraft. What a great thing to do!

  2. sarah says:

Me and my best friend could NEVER eat Mac & Cheese together because she likes hers watery (more milk) and I like mine very sticky/cheesey (I don’t use milk. Or butter. Shut up ;) I know I’m doing it wrong!!!). And now I’m raising a whole ‘nother generation of cheesy mac n cheese peeps.

  3. Mac-N-Cheese was the first meal I learned how to make all by myself! I also remember making it with my friend Amanda everytime I spent the night at her house because her awesome mom always bought the white chedder version, my favorite!

  5. When I was in college, my roommate and I had a unapproved (as in, not rented from the school and so, not allowed) microwave. Once a month (ahem), boxed mac & cheese was the only thing I wanted.

And I made it with water. And lots of pepper.

One time I made it with too much pepper, and it was AWFUL! Thankfully, my friend across the hall – a big football player – doesn’t have a sense of smell. And so not much sense of taste. He ate the whole bowl. :)

  6. Go you and go Kraft! Cutest mac memory I have is one Halloween I saw a little
Girl dressed as Kraft mac & cheese! It was precious.

  7. I tweeted!

  8. Jen says:

When I was growing up every Sunday after church my mom would make Kraft dinner for lunch. We had a family of children and two adults. Every Sunday without fail! I have this memory for over 5 years. When I grew up and moved out on my own, I craved KD every sunday after church and this lasted for many, many years!

  9. Fantastic contest! Favorite memory is sitting back while the Kraft Mac & Cheese prepares itself!

  10. Stimey says:

My mom used to make Kraft Mac and Cheese, but would mix tuna in with it. It’s better without the tuna.

  11. Eloise C says:

My favorite memories are the ones I am making now, sharing a bowl of Kraft Mac and Cheese with my two girls, who love it as much as I do. I love to jazz up my Kraft Mac and Cheese with some good hot dogs, YUM! Thanks so much for sponsoring such a wonderful giveaway and thanks to Kraft for the great work they are doing!

No thanks, I just ate. :)

Bloghopping! Nice to “meet” you! Happy Friday!

  14. Maureen says:

My mom used to top our Mac and Cheese with breadcrumbs and then pop it under the broiler just before serving… I loved the crunchy topping!

Blog Hopping!!! So good to see you again Rachel! It’s been too long.

  15. During my senior year in college, my roommate and I LIVED on Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. We were lazy and cheap and would rather save up our money for going out. Once in a great while, just to spice things up, or if we had guests, we’d make it really fancy and add chopped hotdogs to our mac and cheese
    -Michelle

  16. Tara R. says:

Bloghopping and a bowl of mac n cheese… don’t get much better than this.

    BlogHoppers!

  17. Nicole says:

I love to eat my mac n’ cheese with hickory smoked tuna. It’s so good. My hubby adds velveeta to his.

  18. Deanna says:

In college we made pizza mac. Cook your hamburger. Add a jar of pizza sause. Make your mac and cheese (double the milk and butter). Layer hamburger & sause and the mac & cheese in pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Yum! I still make it for my kids. They love it too!

  19. Krystyn says:

I like my mac n cheese just the way it is…I don’t add anything.

Although, I do like to serve it with fish sticks!

Oh, and sidenote….don’t ever make it with soy milk…it tastes awful

  20. My favorite mac and cheese memory was that my mom always added a Kraft american cheese single to the blue box recipe. That’s how she taught me to make it and that’s how I still make it. Kraft mac & cheese was the first food I learned to make and I made it for almost every lunch I ate for probably 10 years. Love it!

  21. I gots ta have my mac n cheese with ketchup. And beer.

    Happy bloghoppers!

  22. badassdad05 says:

I am ALL ABOUT the Mac and Cheese. Especially after a few beers and some bloghopping! I only regret I didn’t make the Mac and Cheese extravaganza here in LA a few weeks back. One of life’s great regrets.

  23. Karen MEG says:

Mac and cheese is on my menu every week … the girlie’s fave.

I sometimes try to hide ground broccoli in it, never works… extra grated cheddar on top works like a charm

so bloghoppin’ tonite, where I found you first AGES ago, and I should come back more often.

See you in Chicago, though, right?

  24. Favorite Kraft Mac and Cheese memories:

One of the few times my mom was in the hospital, I’m thinking it was after we moved into the house my parents own (before that we lived in apartments, usually half a house, but I digress), and my dad was the only parent home, he made us the BEST meal of mac and cheese. Nothing special, except for the fact that, back then, he couldn’t boil water right, but he got THAT meal right, and I remember telling mom how well he did. I’m sure he can do it quite handily now that mom’s been in a nursing home, in a rehab form, for nearly 5 years :-( But at least she’s still around and with it. :-D And a whole lot closer too.

Also, when mom made it, sometimes she’d add hotdogs and put bacon bits on top, after making up the box, and bake it. It was one of my favorite, though now I just make it according to the directions, and don’t add anything to it. I serve it up, and I prefer mine drenched in ketchup. Something about the ketchup and sauce mixed together just tastes right.

Now I have to add mac and cheese to my grocery list….

  25. Awesome.

And by awesome, I mean… I am drunk and I just saw a big bowl of cheesy noodles. Yummy.

But now I’m mad. Because I’m drunk and I don’t HAVE a big bowl of cheesy noodles.

    #snort

    You been blawg-hopped, babee.

  26. Scary Mommy says:

My college roommate and I would make “feasts” for our friends which consisted of Kraft mac & cheese served on paper plates and boxed wine consumed while sitting on the floor. If we wanted to be super fancy, we’d even make place cards. :)

  27. i love mac and cheese b/c it’s so quick to make and my kids love it.

  28. I love me some Kraft Mac N Cheese. We never had it growing up-I know the horrors. But when I got married I made sure to buy some (and kool aid-lots of kool aid) It was one of the first foods I let me girls eat on their own. I also love that you can toss in some tuna & veggies and you have a quick, easy & healthy meal.

  29. Nap Warden says:

We LOVE some Mac-n-Cheese here! Great giveaway:)

As far as jazzing it up…I’m a traditionalist;) I do like some hot dogs thrown in though:P

  30. Michelle M says:

We love adding tuna to ours. My oldest brother use to make mac and cheese for me a lot when I was a kid. he always use to put too much milk, I have grown to love it this way!

    Thanks!

  31. Tiffany says:

One of my favorite meals as a single gal was a box of mac n chz mixed with a can of peas. Mmmmmmm!!!

  32. lisa says:

I love the blue box mac-n-cheese – I always throw in a couple of Kraft singles to make it REALLY CHEEZY.

  33. Carissa says:

so If I tell you that my youngest soooooo loves easy mac does that count as a memory?? He can make most of it himself. He’s the only one home most weekdays so it’s great to NOT make a whole box then. He would rather eat mac n cheese than pretty much anything else…

  34. I just remember it being the one thing I always got excited about when mom made it when I was growing up. And the fact that it is super easy to make for my son now that it comes in the little microwavable cups? Fabulous!

  35. When I was in first or second grade, we made up little booklets about ourselves…what we looked like, what our families were like, where we lived, etc. Lots of pictures, lots of misspelled words; those of you with young kids know the drill. :) So in mine, I shared my favorite food: Kraft macaroni and cheese. “Mom makes it on speshul okashuns.”

Have to wonder what the teacher thought of our family celebrations! :)

  36. Rhonda Mason says:

I mix in cream of mushroom soup, peas and diced ham. Its now a cassarole around here! LOL Thanks! And HooRay to Kraft for giving back!

  37. Jeni says:

I grew up eating macaroni & cheese mixed with a can of condensed tomato soup. It sounds weird, but it’s great comfort food!

  44. Emily says:

My strongest mac and cheese memory was the first time I ever tried it. A picky eater as a kid, I was pretty dismayed when my babysitting Aunt told me we were having something I’d never had before for dinner. She employed the “tough love” strategy and told me it was the only option for dinner so I’d better like it. Of course it has been a comfort food favorite ever since!

When I make mac at home for myself, I add browned ground turkey and frozen peas…. “more mac and cheese with peas please!”
