Your Opinion, No Really.. I Want It.

Hello my darling ones.

I would like your opinion on what may be the shortest post that I’ve ever written.

When I show y’all recipes would y’all like me to start adding more photos, make it more recipe/tutorial?

be honest, I can take it

Please pop out of your reader and come tell me your opinion, Thanks! MWAH!

Your comments were some that got me thinking. I want to find a balance between a picture of every single step and the one picture that I normally do.

  2. Ree says:

Considering I’ll be able to start cooking for myself again, please…tutorials. Drooling over your pictures is nice, but I can’t actually TASTE them.

I think you do an excellent job just as you do! But, that said, I know that a lot of folks like the tutorials.

      Thanks, Mary!
I thought that my recipes were basic enough that lots of pictures weren’t something people wanted but, they’re fun and it seems something that can add a lot to a recipe :-)

  4. WackyMummy says:

    Love the pictures. Yummy!

These are the varieties of blueberries that I picked: Blue Crop, Blue Ray, Bonus, Berkley, Duke, Jersey, and Spartan. Does that help? Actually, most large high-bush blueberries are spicier. I think the bigger the spicier, the smaller the sweeter. That’s my personal assessment from many many hours of picking and eating blueberries. =)

Thanks for sharing that! I guess that I never realized that as I’ve never seen too many varying sizes of blueberries. I’ll have to look for them!

  5. I love pics, especially when they accompany a recipe :) . So my vote is yes!

Well then! :-) LOL. I was worried if I added too many pics it would take too long to load for some people but, I should know that where food is involved.. people will wait ;-) LOL

  6. pictures are great, but what i REALLY want is for you to come and cook those yummy dishes for me. now. come on. what are you waiting for?!?!

I like it just like it is now. PW does the pic tutorial and I think she does too many at times.

Thanks for your honesty! I do love that about you :-) I won’t do as many as she does but, I might start adding in more a pic every few steps or so.
      Thank you hon!

  8. Amanda says:

I like how you do it now, though I’m a sucker for pictures too! I say whatever you feel you want to do. Your recipes seem pretty straight-forward and doable as they are. I just like how you have a photo of the finished product – makes it that much more mouthwatering. :)

  9. Ivy says:

I really like pictures but lengthy tutorials are boring. I think you can skim over some basic cooking skills and only post photos where necessary.

    • Rachel says:

I think that may be the approach that I take, too. I tend to take for granted that everyone can cook and grew up cooking like I did. So, I’ll try to find a nice middle ground. Thanks for your opinion! :-)

C’mon…truth be told, I’m with Monica…can you just come cook ‘em for me:)

Thanks Erin! I see that you did the cupcakes in the ice cream cones ;-) Aren’t they so super simple and fun!!!! When I did those I did an almost step by step tutorial.
I am loving all these opinions, it’s nice to hear what people would like to see! Thanks for popping in and giving yours too!

  12. Pictures! Please! Just like looking at pics in Vogue or in Martha Stewart Living lets us live vicariously, imagining that we/our house looks like that, so do food pictures make us dream that we COOK like that.

Thank you sweet friend!! I’m so glad that you’ve had success and enjoyment with my recipes! Okay, more pictures it is! xoxoxo :-)

  14. Tara R. says:

Photos are always great. If helps me to see if the dish looks like it’s supposed to when I make it. The tutorial idea is a really good one, especially for a technique that can be complicated.

I love Mondays and use your recipes to plan my weekly dinners. Keep the good stuff coming!

YAY Tara!!! My Carson Kressley picture buddy! xoxo I am so glad that you love them and that they’re helping with your menu planning! More pictures shall be making an appearance in the future :-) but, not EVERY SINGLE STEP pictures ;-)

  15. Definitely tutorials! I love the step by step, even though I am pretty efficient in the kitchen. Tutorials usually give me confidence to try new things.

  16. I don’t think a picture of every. single. step is necessary. Sometimes 1 picture will suffice just fine. I think it depends on the recipe. If you have a great tip or technique to showcase along with the recipe- snap away! maybe an additional photo of some prep, or a snap of the amount you put in the recipe, or how something is layered? I think your tutorials are excellent though and I’m usually able to decipher without question what I need to do next. (and the humor- oh I love the humor!)

PS- I substituted your RSS in a recipe that called for Lawry’s- LOVED IT!
PPS- Can I also add Ohio to your roster of homes to come cook for?

YAY for the RSS! I’m so glad you like it! I like making my own because I know EXACTLY what goes into it and I can play with the amounts to complement or enhance whatever I’m making :-)
Yes, you can add Ohio.. but, unless I go on some world tour… y’all just have to come here or start saving up for my plane fare now :-) hee hee

  17. Nissa says:

Yes! I am culinarily challenged, so the more detail, the better!

  18. I’m with Monica – do what you want with the photos, just head north and cook for me! ;)

Seriously, I like it how you have it, because I read other posts with tutorials and lotsa photos. So I like reading the different kinds of cooking posts. But hey, if you add more photos and instructions, I’ll still read!

  19. Malia says:

I like seeing more photos when it’s a more labor intensive recipe (i.e. lots of steps and/or times when during the cooking process something is supposed to look a certain way to know it’s right). Otherwise, if it’s the kind of “put all this together is a pot/dish/pan and cook/bake it”, a picture of the final product is sufficient.

  20. Strphanie says:

I would not mind seeing a few more pics. They are helpful when you are confused about how something is supposed to look. Also somethings might seem simple, but for those that aren’t so awesome in the kitchen (me) the extra pics will help :) .

I love your pictures… but remember sometimes a lot of photos on one whole page (as in the home page and 7-10 posts) can cause a slow load time.. so maybe test it out?

  25. Paula says:

I love the pics and I would just take as many as you want. Feel like alot go for it. Not a good day a couple will sufice. And I have to agree with Monica. You can come and make any of them at my house anytime!

  26. Denise says:

Pics are what catch my attention. I’m not a steak eater, but your pics caught my attention so I will definietly try the sandwiches.

By the way just had your Salmon Bow Tie pasta this week, yummy!!!!! I really owe you for that recipe!!!

And, lastly, it’s “POP”! – Unlike my cousins from NJ that used to say “SODA”. Funny how that still bothers people into adulthood, isn’t it? YO ukno wwhat is really funny, is I don’t even drink “POP”! SO I guess I don’t get a vote.
