Mouthwatering Quiche Recipe

Today’s Mouthwatering Monday post is an easy faux fancy dish. It sounds fancy, just say it: “Quiche Lorraine”, do you hear the ooohs and aaahhhs from your friends and family? They will be impressed and they will devour it, trust me. My husband looked at my mom like she was serving him melted plastic when she served him quiche for the first time, and then he ate 3/4 of the dang thing. This recipe changes a bit every time that I make it, there are all different additions and variations you can use, but this is my favorite.

  • quiche lorraine
  • Plain pastry, 9″ shell
  • 8 bacon slices,  diced
  • ½ C chopped green onions, tops to bottoms = about 1 bunch
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • ½ tsp onion pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic salt
  • 1 ¼ C fresh shredded swiss cheese
  • 1 C sliced mushrooms
  • 2 C light cream (half and half)
  • 3 shakes pepper, to taste
  1. Line the 9 inch pie pan with pastry, trim the edges and crimp, flute or fork the edges for a decorative presentation.
  2. Brown bacon lightly; drain off excess fat (don’t I wish I could do that with me) Add green onions and mushrooms and cook until bacon is golden brown and the onions and mushrooms have softened, slightly
  3. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  4. Combine eggs, cheese, onion powder, garlic salt and pepper. Add light cream and blend well.
  5. Add in bacon mixture and mix thoroughly.
  6. Pour into pie shell. (use a soup ladle if necessary to get all of the filling into the shell)

Simple and Delicious Sausage and Egg Breakfast Casserole: MWM

sausage-and-egg-casserole

This fantastically easy, tonguegasmically delicious breakfast casserole is also featured over on Blissfully Delish today as a part of our month of eggs in conjunction with the American Egg Board, and over on Blissfully Delish, I’ll give you the lower fat recipe :-) But y’all know I don’t do low fat over here.
One of the reasons that I love this dish so much is that it’s easy, it can be made the night before and with the blending of the spicy sausage and the creamy eggs and cheese mixture. Seriously y’all your taste buds will dance with delight and your friends and family will ask what they can do for you if you’ll only make this dish for them.

Sausage and Egg Casserole

  • 4 C frozen shredded hashbrowns
  • 2 C shredded cheddar
  • 1 lb (cooked) breakfast sausage, I use the hot sausage because we like a little zoomph in our food
  • 1/2 C green onion, chopped
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 2 (12 oz) cans evaporated milk
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  1. Arrange hashbrowns in an even layer in the bottom of a greased 9X13 pan
  2. Sprinkle with cheese, sausage and green onion: set aside
  3. Combine eggs, milk, salt and pepper: blend well
  4. Pour over hashbrown mixture, cover and refrigerate for several hours, or overnight
  5. Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees until the center is set: 40 to 50 minutes if chilled. 50 to 60 minutes if chilled overnight.

kitchen-sink-cookies

This recipe makes about 5 dozen cookies and when I mention that I’m making them, there’s usually a line of people waiting for them.

Kitchen Sink Cookies

  • 2 C White Sugar
  • 1 3/4 C quick cook oats
  • 2 C unsweetened applesauce
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 C all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 C cornflakes cereal
  • 1 1/2 C chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/4 C flaked coconut
  • 4 dashes cinnamon
  • you can add 1 to 2  C raisins or craisins or dried cherries or chocolate chips
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 F
  2. Cream together Brown Sugar, White Sugar, Vanilla, Applesauce and Eggs
  3. Add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and oatmeal. Mix well
  4. In a large bowl mix cornflakes, nuts and coconut (this is where you would add the *extras*)
  5. Slowly add the batter to this bowl, mixing well until the entire batter is completely mixed.
  6. Drop by Tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until they are a lovely golden brown.

These cookies are amazing and will disappear quickly. They are crunchy and chewy with just a hint of sweetness. My family can’t get enough of them.
