Hi Southern Fairytale readers! I’m Lindsay Ann from Dollhouse Bake Shoppe. Nice to meet you all, I’m so excited to be here contributing to the holiday fun! Over at Dollhouse Bake Shoppe I share all kinds of dessert recipes, festive holiday and party treat tutorialsbaking tips & tricks and more, so be sure to stop by and say hello 🙂

Today, I am going to share with you my Christmas Present Sugar Cookies for a fun, quick and simple way to create a festive holiday treat out of your classic Christmas sugar cookies. By adding some curling ribbon to iced sugar cookies, you can create a variety of little edible “presents” that make a perfect gift, party addition or special Christmas treat.

Christmas Present Sugar Cookies

By Lindsay Ann of dollhousebakeshoppe.com

You will need:

  • Sugar cookie dough, store bought or homemade (Check out my favorite recipe here)
  • Cookie icing/Royal icing, store bought or homemade (I have a great, simple recipe here, it’s the last recipe on the page)
  • Curling ribbon and scissors
Roll our your sugar cookie dough on a lightly floured surface. Using a knife or a pizza cutter, slice vertical and horizontal lines across the dough to create square shapes (you can create rectangle shapes as well, for a variety of gift shapes and sizes).
Transfer your shapes onto a cookie sheet. Bake and cool as directed. Once your cookies are completely cooled, ice the tops with your cookie icing in color(s) of your choice. You can even add polka dots, stripes or sprinkles before the icing sets. Let cookies dry and set completely.

Once icing has hardened and is completely dry, wrap some curling ribbon around the cookie, just as you would a gift, tying a knot at the top and curling the ribbon with scissors.

Voila, quick, simple and adorable cookies, perfect for the holidays!

You can use any color scheme you like and even add decorations to your cookies using different colored icing or sprinkles. Get creative and be sure to share a picture on our Facebook wall, or email me a photo to have your recreation featured on the site!
