Helen Stanley: How Did Fashionista-Turned-Car Artist on ‘Goblin Works Garage’?

Though mostly known as a TV presenter, Helen Stanley is much more than that. The extraordinary woman is a talented fashionista, presenter, podcast host, and graphic designer.

She’s a Jack of all trades, rightfully so.

Best known for her work on Goblin Works Garage, Helen has solid experience in custom car design and reviving old vehicles. She used that experience to start her own garage and work on a lot of projects.

Here, we’ll tell you all about her career shifts from fashion to automotive to graphic design!

A Brief Biography of Helen Stanley

Helen Stanley was born on the 7th of April, 1982, making her 42 years old at the time of writing. Since she wasn’t famous before presenting TV shows, we’re not sure about her birthplace or which state she’s from.

Before becoming a TV personality, Helen Stanley had a successful career in the fashion industry. She used to be a fashion blogger and even had her own fashion line at some point, called Helen’s Wardrobe.

True to her character, Helen’s fashion line featured high-street fashion pieces, along with some vintage and alternative fashion influences.

She worked in fashion for around a decade before deciding to ditch it and follow her real passion: the automotive world.

Helen Stanley’s Career Journey Throughout the Years

Helen Stanley started as a fashion designer, but she somehow found her way into the automotive world. Here’s a rundown of her career in the industry:

Helen Stanley’s first venture into the world of cars and motorcycles was with Goblin Works. She joined the company as a custom designer. Shortly after, she became a presenter and started hosting the Goblin Works Garage show, accompanied by Jimmy de Ville and Ant Partridge.

During her time on the show, Stanley designed plenty of cars and motorcycles, giving them a new look with bold aesthetics and vivid colors.

Along with her mates, she helped build custom vehicles inspired by retro and alternative styles.

Prior to the show, the original car and bike company had closed its doors, despite being active since the 1970s.

The TV show apparently breathed life back into the company, partially thanks to Stanley’s innovative design choices. Some people believe that she served as a fresh perspective in the traditionally male-dominated industry of automotive.

Aside from Goblin Works Garage, Helen also appeared in Motor Pickers, I’m Not Driving That!, and World’s Greatest Cars.

Personal Projects

Despite scoring huge success with Goblin Works, Helen Stanley had a different vision for her personal projects. She co-founded the Skull & Pistons Garage, where she shows off her skills in designing custom cars. She also started a podcast called Hel’s Car Cult podcast. The podcast is available on Spotify and Apple, and it mostly involves chats about cars and everything related.

That’s not Helen’s only podcast, though. She started another one in 2022 called Cars of the Macabre. This time, the podcast isn’t as conventional as other car-related ones. It talks about haunted roads, cursed cars, serial killer cars, and everything spooky in the automotive world.

Aside from her podcasts and garage, Helen Stanley still has a knack for designing. She recently started a fashion line called Cult-like Society, where she designs streetwear inspired by sub-cultures and rebels. The brand is still not launched, but it’s expected to launch soon.

Graphics and Illustrations

Helen Stanley isn’t only a fashion and car girl; she’s also into graphic design and illustration, which is apparent on her official website.

According to the website, Stanley can edit reels, YouTube videos, and shorts. On top of that, she can create hand-painted graphic art using mixed media, including spray paint, ink, graffiti pens, acrylics, and even photographs.

She’s also a self-taught digital graphic artist and can work on a lot of illustrations, including typography.

Final Thoughts

Helen Stanley has had an interesting journey from being a fashion designer to being a TV presenter! What’s even more odd is that she’s currently neither of these things, instead focusing on her podcast and her graphic design projects.

Stanley is proof that you don’t have to put yourself in a single mold and stay there for the rest of your life. Her journey shows that you can pursue all your passions and still have time for more!
