Even if we’re ready for it or not, autumn is coming! But think positive thoughts, because today we are sharing a favorite fall treat secret:

APPLES! {Not the secret…that part is coming up!}

Have you ever gone to pick the apples yourself? It’s so fun!

It’s also a great opportunity to teach your kids how to work {and then how to enjoy the work afterwards, we’ll show you how!}

Make sure you buy or pick enough! They are so crisp and juicy and they will DISAPPEAR, especially if you pair it with this…

Aunt Kay’s Buttery Caramel Sauce

Ingredients:

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup corn syrup

1/3 cup butter

2/3 cup whipping cream

*Makes 2 1/2 cups

In a medium saucepan combine sugars, syrup and butter.

Cook over medum heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a full boil, about 5 – 6 minutes.

Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes.

Stir in whipping cream.

Pour into a jar and store in refrigerator. It will thicken when cold.

YUMMY!

{Thanks Aunt Kay!}

I started out dipping apples in this sauce but ended up dipping my finger instead, I couldn’t seem to get enough! It reminds me of the Cheesecake Factory sauce that I always order on the side to go with any cheesecake.

*FYI: highly ADDICTIVE! I just ate caramel for breakfast! I dipped a banana in it, mmm. I am walking around the kitchen trying to find things to dip in this stuff! I am not sure if I should praise Aunt Kay or curse her for this most amazing caramel sauce!

Need another idea on what to do with all those APPLES?

    I love this recipe and can’t wait to try it :) I was born and raised in Florida and am currently working in Connecticut. I saw my first apple and pear trees last week. I was so excited !!!

  2. Rachel says

    So will this “harden” to cover apples on a stick then store in clear plastic gift bags or is it really for dipping apple slices? Either way, it sounds scrumptious.

  3. Lynda M O says

    Incredibly delish, I used the end of a jar of caramel ice cream topping last week and said to my husband, “Apples are good if you…”
    “Dip them in sugar first ?~!” he asked me, laughing.
    Yep, guess so, huh !~!

    Thanks for the recipe tho I’ll make it somewhere this season. Mmmmm.
