Peppermint Bark

This month is flying by and I’m so floored by the talent that these amazing guest posters have shared.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us… it’s full tilt ahead to Christmas!

Today’s guest poster is someone that I adore.  Shawn was my friend, Kristen’s roomie at Evo this past year and I just adore her (well, both of them, but this is about Shawn).  Shawn has a calming, soothing personality.. she is sweet and bubbly and fun to be around, but she’s also someone who instantly makes you comfortable, you feel as if you’re in the company of your oldest dearest friend.

Shawn is wonderfully talented and her blog is fantastic, if you haven’t stopped in to see her yet, you should!

Howdy! My name is Shawn and I blog over at I Wash…You Dry! I am so happy to be sharing a fun and easy homemade gift item in Rachel’s Bake, Craft, and Sew Along!

On my blog I am all about simple and easy recipes, so it’s no surprise that making homemade gifts from the kitchen need to be simple and easy too. Nothing says “Happy Holidays” like a bunch of chocolate. Am I right??

It’s so incredibly easy to turn little morsels of chocolate and a few crushed candy canes into a tasty treat that anyone will love.

If you have a double boiler then you’ll use that to melt your chocolates.

What? No double boiler??

Yeah, me neither… so we make our own double boiler and feel fancy while doing it.

Just start with an inch or two of water in a pot and get that to a small boil. Place your chocolate into a metal or glass bowl that fits on top of the pot, but not touching the water. The steam in between the pot and the bowl will help to gradually and gently melt the chocolate to it’s silky smooth consistency.

Melt the dark chocolate down first and spread it evenly onto some parchment paper and place it in the fridge to harden. Then get to work on the white chocolates. {It’s really not work… only takes a few minutes}

Once the white chocolate is nice and smooth you’ll add some crushed candy canes and stir them in.

Pour the pepperminty-white chocolate goodness all over the decadent dark chocolate and smooth it out.

Crush up a few more candy canes and sprinkle all over the wet chocolate. Stick it back in the fridge and let it all harden again.

Once it’s hard you can carefully cut it into little pieces and play the, “one for you… two for me….” game.

Package up a few pieces for neighbors or teachers. It’s rich, it’s sweet, it’s perfect for the Holiday’s!

I hope you all enjoy! Don’t forget to come by and check out my blog for more simple and easy recipes! Be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter and/or Pinterest too!
